To change file permissions in Plesk, follow these steps:
Step 1: Log in to your Plesk Control Panel.
Step 2: Click on the "File Manager" icon under the domain or subdomain for which you want to change file permissions.
Step 3: Locate the file or directory for which you want to modify the permissions.
Step 4: Click on the "Change Permissions" button in the toolbar at the top of the File Manager interface.
Step 5: Set the desired permissions: In the "Change Permissions" dialog box, you'll see a set of checkboxes for Owner, Group, and Others. Select or clear the checkboxes to enable or disable specific permissions for the file or directory. Alternatively, you can enter the numeric value directly in the "Numeric value" field.
Read (r): Allows reading/viewing the file or directory.
Write (w): Allows modifying the file or directory.
Execute (x): Allows executing or running the file or accessing the directory.
Step 6: The permissions can be set using numeric values as well:
4: Read permission
2: Write permission
1: Execute permission
For example, to give read and write permissions to the owner, read permission to the group, and no permissions to others, you can set the numeric value to 640 or manually select the checkboxes accordingly.
Step 7: Click on the "OK" button to save the changes.
That's it! You have successfully changed the file permissions in Plesk Control Panel using the File Manager. Make sure to set the appropriate permissions to maintain the security and accessibility of your files and directories.
