How to connect website using SFTP in Filezilla?

Step 1: Open FileZilla

Launch FileZilla: Open the FileZilla application on your computer.

Step 2: Gather Your SFTP Credentials

You will need the following information from your web hosting provider:

Host: This is usually your domain name or the server's IP address.

Username: Your SFTP username.

Password: Your SFTP password.

Port: Please check your set up configuration mail received from Hosteasy for the port number for SFTP.

Step 3: Set Up a New Site in FileZilla

Open Site Manager: Click on the File menu and select Site Manager or click the Site Manager icon on the toolbar.

New Site: Click the New Site button to create a new site entry. Name it something recognizable, like your website's name.

Enter SFTP Details:

Protocol: Select SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol from the dropdown menu.

Host: Enter the host (your domain name or IP address).

Port: Enter port number received over email

Logon Type: Select Normal.

User: Enter your SFTP username.

Password: Enter your SFTP password.

Advanced Settings (optional):

Default local directory: Set this if you want FileZilla to open a specific local directory by default.

Default remote directory: Set this if you want FileZilla to open a specific directory on the server by default.

Step 4: Connect to the Server

Connect: Click the Connect button. FileZilla will attempt to connect to the server using the provided credentials.

Accept the Host Key: The first time you connect, FileZilla will prompt you to trust the server s host key. Review the information and click OK to accept and save the key.

Step 5: Navigate and Transfer Files

Local Site: The left pane displays your local files and directories.

Remote Site: The right pane displays the server's files and directories.

Transfer Files: You can drag and drop files between the local and remote panes to transfer files. Alternatively, you can right-click on a file or directory and choose Upload or Download.

Step 6: Disconnect from the Server

Disconnect: When you're done, click the Server menu and select Disconnect or click the disconnect icon on the toolbar.
