What does domain transfer prohibited mean?

"Domain transfer prohibited" is a status that prevents a domain from being transferred to another registrar. This status is typically set to protect the domain from unauthorized or accidental transfers. Common reasons for this status include:

  1. Registrar Lock: The domain is locked by the current registrar for security purposes. You must unlock it to initiate a transfer.

  2. 60-Day Transfer Restriction: ICANN policies prevent domains from being transferred within 60 days of registration, transfer, or ownership changes.

  3. Unpaid Dues: Pending renewal fees or unpaid balances can also restrict a domain transfer.

To resolve this, check with your current registrar and ensure your domain is eligible for transfer. You may need to unlock the domain and obtain the EPP (authorization) code.
