How to password protect directories in DirectAdmin?

To password protect directories in DirectAdmin, you can follow these steps:

Step 1: Log in to your DirectAdmin control panel using your username and password.

Step 2: Once logged in, navigate to the File Manager section. It is usually located under the Your Account or Advanced Features section, depending on your DirectAdmin theme.

Step 3: In the File Manager, browse to the directory you want to password protect. Click on the folder icon to enter the directory.

Step 4: Once inside the directory, you should see a list of files and folders. At the top of the page, you'll find an icon labeled Password Protect. Click on it.

Step 5: In the Password Protect interface, you'll see an option to enable password protection for the current directory. Check the box next to Enable Password Protection.

Step 6: Enter a name for the protected area in the Protected Area Name field. This name will be displayed to users when they are prompted for a username and password.

Step 7: Next, click on the Add User button to create a new user for accessing the protected area.

Step 8: Enter a username and password for the user in the respective fields. You can also specify an optional description for the user.

Step 9: Once you've added the necessary users, click on the Save button to apply the password protection settings.

Step 10: The directory is now password protected. When someone tries to access the directory, they will be prompted for a username and password. Only those with valid credentials will be able to access the protected area.

Please note that the steps above may vary slightly depending on the version of DirectAdmin and the theme being used. However, the general process should be similar across different installations.
